Jesup Road Beautification

Adopt-a-Spot

With the overwhelming support of the Westport community, the Rainbow Crosswalk has adorned Jesup Road since the fall of 2023. In partnership with Westport Parks and Rec, Westport Pride is participating in the town’s Adopt-a-Spot program to help beautify spaces throughout the Westport community. In particular, Westport Pride has adopted the traffic median adjacent to the crosswalk.

Partnering with Tuliptree Site Design, a gay owned, Norwalk based design firm, Westport Pride will be installing a pollinator pathway garden. The spot runs approximately 100 feet from the police station to the crosswalk at the corner of Jesup Road and Taylor Place. The garden will consist of native wildflowers and will add an amazing pop of color downtown as well as a habitat for native species. Flowers will include daffodils, lupine, coneflower, primrose, coreopsis, spiked gayfeather, cornflower, daisies, poppy, phlox, butterfly milkweed, and yarrow. The design will also incorporate spring bulbs to bring seasonal interest to the spot. Planting was completed on March 4, 2024.
